The Jackson Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a stabbing suspect.
On Friday January 14, 2022 at 9:43 pm, officers responded to the Sunoco gas station located on Monmouth Road on the report of a physical altercation. All involved persons had left the area prior to the officer’s arrival. A store employee advised officers that unknown males began a verbal argument inside the store that led to a physical altercation outside which may have involved a knife.
Headquarters later received notification from Centra State Hospital that two males had gone to the emergency room with stab wounds and may have been involved in the incident.
The initial investigation determined that a 23 year old male and 29 year old male were inside the store at the Sunoco where they reported that an unknown male approached them demanding money that he claimed they owed him before he left the store. When they went outside, the male approached again and punched one of the victims. As the confrontation escalated, this male then produced a small knife and began swinging it at them. One of the victims sustained lacerations to his hand while the other sustained stab wounds to his arm. The suspect was reportedly assisted by a second male who pulled one of the victims away by the neck so that the two suspects could flee the scene.
The suspect was identified as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’8” tall with a husky build with short dark hair and glasses. The second male was identified as a black male with a thin build with short dark hair. They left the scene in a light blue vehicle.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Det. Brian Baranyay at 732-928-1111.
