Last night, a Jewish woman was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle in Jackson. But the way the scene was handled, was heartwarming, Askonim say.
Immediately upon hearing the news, Jackson Police Chief Matt Kunz himself responded to the scene – despite it being a Sunday night – and remained there for over two hours.
As Jewish law requires, Misaskim volunteers spent hours cleaning up the scene to ensure the remains could be given a proper burial.
Chief Kunz and his team, along with other officials from OCPO and CSI stood by an ensured the teams of volunteers, chaplains and others had whatever they needed and as much time as they needed to do their work.
“We felt we had friends on scene,” one of the Askonim on scene said. “This was a tragic scene, but the way it was handled with such sensitivity and understanding, was heartwarming.”
Jackson Police Chief Matt Kunz says he was not surprised by the unity.
“I was pleased but certainly not surprised how all responders collaborated,” Chief Kunz told TLS. “Our community is blessed to have so many professionals providing support to our residents.”
I’m a Lakewood resident but in many ways our communities are one as we are not just neighboring towns but two towns that are very much inseparable.. I know I speak for many here in Lakewood when I say thank you to you for both your superb leadership and for your unwavering friendship to both our communities. At a trying hour such as last night both the Jackson township and Lakewood township once again realized how fortunate we are to have someone as yourself leading the police department. With many more years in good health!
Will they now listen to our request to put more lights up?
We have been asking for 5 plus years..
i wonder how many other communities have such mutual respect for one another.
