Murphy Continues to Release Prisoners Into Our Communities | Yoel Ackerman

Some of Governor Phil Murphy’s moves in 2022 have certainly been head scratching.

Earlier in the year he mandated covid vaccines for state workers. Now, he has done it again.

After announcing an end to many of the States initial covid mandates, he has kept his promise to release inmates early. He has done so without a real policy of how to help such individuals not be a danger to themselves or others. 852 more prisoners were released last week under a public health emergency credit system that allowed inmates to cut their sentences.

This move comes after  Murphy released a total of 5,300 prisoners in 2020 in 2021 due to pandemic reasons.

These executive orders are certainly not making New Jersey any safer. Close to 10 percent of those already released have committed additional crimes upon their release and three committed murders, which lead to the deaths of five people.

While Murphy has continually cited covid-19 as an excuse for his early prison release program, studies have shown that such releases have had little to no effect on the spread of covid within the prison population itself.

“The governor’s actions are not making New Jersey’s streets, towns, and cities any safer,” William Lanoza, head of the New Jersey Law Enforcement Supervisors Association. “In fact, the murder rate in New Jersey climbed 23% in 2021, reaching the highest it has been since 2016. The vast majority of inmates that are being released under this legislation are being bussed to our state’s urban centers and thereafter left to themselves.”

Aside from the rise in crime due to these prison releases, the inmates themselves who have been released, suffer from drug and alcohol addiction. Studies have also shown that these individuals continually relapse once brought back into the community.
Murphy never introduced an effective policy that will help integrate these inmates into the community where they can be productive while also not a danger to themselves or others. It remains to be seen how long this policy will last.

  1. Liberals do what liberals do

These people move into YOUR community, not where the Governor lives, so YOU must help them adjust to productive living, while the politicians could claim the glory of empty jails.

  2. This is done because democrats like Murphy support criminals over law abiding citizens. They do all they can to impose restrictions on law abiding citizens and lift restrictions on criminals.

  3. How’s all that hakaras hatov working out? Curious as to what slogans will be emanating from my answering machine come next election cycle. Hakaras hatov again? Probably. There’s so much to be thankful for… All these criminals being released and crime rates rising. Thank you gov Murphy.
