BREAKING: Lakewood High School Placed on Lockdown after Report of Possible Subject with Gun; Was Possibly a Prank Call [VIDEO & PHOTOS – UPDATED]

The Lakewood High School was placed on a brief lockdown today after receiving a report of a possible subject with a gun near the school.

Shortly before 5:00 PM, Police received a call about a possible subject with an assault rifle inside a vehicle near the school.

Police immediately swarmed the area, and the school was placed on lockdown, with shelter in place.

A school official tells TLS the call originated in Howell, and there’s no indication the report is true, but police are searching the premises anyway.

Developing.

UPDATE: 5:30 PM: Lockdown has been lifted, but police are still investigating.

Police tell TLS they are trying to determine who placed the call, and if it was legitimate or a prank.

UPDATE: 5:52 PM: “Thank G-d all is safe,” Board of Education Attorney Michael Inzelbuch told TLS.

“The 911 caller, reportedly, advised 911 that a red pickup truck stopped in front of the high school and had an assault rifle,” Inzelbuch said. “No evidence of same exists at this time. Lakewood Police is investigating the basis for the call and will be contacting the 911 caller.”

Inzelbuch says, “The call to 911, reportedly, appears to have been a prank,” and there were less than 11 kids in the building and approximately 7 staff members at the time.

“The Police and district security, within seconds of the 911 call, acted together in a professional manner utilizing their training,” says Inzelbuch. “All students were provided transportation to their home once all clear was provided.”

Counselors will be calling students tonight to offer any assistance, Inzelbuch said.

The lockdown lasted for approximately 25 minutes.

“We once again thank our great police force, school security, the High School administration, and all staff who acted in a correct and proactive manner,” Inzelbuch said.

“To our students,” Inzelbuch added, “thank you for following directions, and we are there for them.”

UPDATE: “The officers did a great job in immediately locking down and searching the area,” Police Chief Greg Meyer tells TLS. “We take such incidents very seriously, and are working to gather all info surrounding it.”

  1. All seriousness aside, when I told a friend of mine that there’s a lockdown today in Lakewood, he said, “Quick bring me my facemask!”
I told him, “Knucklehead, it’s not THAT kind of lockdown! There’s a lockdown because of a suspected planned shooting attack!”
So he told me, “Quick, bring me my bulletproof facemask!”
I asked him, “And what about the rest of your body?”
He said, “That’s not a problem, I sprayed myself with Lysol, but I can’t spray it on my face. Last time I did that, my eyes and nose were burning me for a week.”
    Go figure.

  2. Are those the Israeli machine guns that Dr. Richie Roberts donated to the Lakewood Police?
Teachers should go for target practice and have quick access to such weapons; public schools are a very dangerous place as all kinds of dangerous drug dealers sneak in there to sell some students drugs etc.

  3. Please don’t prank the police like this. Although it might seem like fun it not only wastes the police time and resources it can also create many dangerous situations. With many officers rushing to a scene there’s concern for their safety and of fellow motorists and pedestrians then there’s everything they have to go through on scene as well as the fact that they aren’t able to be on their regular patrol which compromises the communities saftey. Please never create a hoax!!!!

    • Just like water and hot oil don’t go together—this retarded idiot is definitely not on the scoop—He is on all those crazy wild dangerous dark web sites that our brilliant government (democrats & republicans) decided that it is 100% legal for any person starting at age 1 till age 100 to freely surf those sites 24/7 365 days a year.
I think many people forgot, that in the very beginning , only the US army was allowed to go on the internet.
How many more mass shootings do we need??
Everyone agrees that the internet for sure helps those terrible kids who are planning something terrible.
There is a big fight about legally buying guns.
Let us fight this problem at the source.
