Gov. Murphy on Supreme Court Gun Law Ruling: “This Dangerous Decision will make America a Less Safe Country”; AG Statement

Governor Phil Murphy moments ago released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court ruling this morning.

“Based on a deeply flawed constitutional methodology, a right-wing majority on the United States Supreme Court has just said that states can no longer decide for ourselves how best to limit the proliferation of firearms in the public sphere. Let there be no mistake – this dangerous decision will make America a less safe country.

“But let me be equally clear that, here in New Jersey, we will do everything in our power to protect our residents. Anticipating this decision, my Administration has been closely reviewing options we believe are still available to us regarding who can carry concealed weapons and where they can carry them. We are carefully reviewing the Court’s language and will work to ensure that our gun safety laws are as strong as possible while remaining consistent with this tragic ruling.”

Statement below from the AG.

    Give up Murphy you lost!

  • Ploni Almoni says:

You can think that the constitution is dangerous Governor, but without it there is no America.

  • Yochy says:

    Dear Governor.

The USA at this point can’t get any worse or more dangerous!!!

This ruling might make the USA more safe, if the good guys have guns, then maybe the bad guys will be scared and won’t be so violent.

    Just saying.

  • Freedom comeback! says:

Mr. Governor the constitution was written to free the American people from Socialists, Marxists and Liberals like you! If you don’t like it then move to Venezuela, North Korea or China.

  • TheConsultant says:

Democrats hate the constitution and believe only criminals should be able to carry guns, they also believe law abiding citizens shouldn’t be able to protect themselves with guns while they have armed security protecting them, they also believe abortion which is not mentioned in the constitution in any form should be totally unrestricted while the right to bear arms which is explicitly written in the constitution should be restricted to the extent that you cant exercise that right. The Supreme Court is standing up for our constitutional rights with their ruling yesterday and today and the democarst being against rights are going nuts over it.

  • Harry says:

You know that if he’s against something, it’s really a good thing.
Our governor has a problem with “right wing” justices, only because he’s on the opposite side.

  • Ben says:

Allowing 18 year old’s to purchase machine guns but not allowing them to purchase tobacco products makes great sense.

  • Robert says:

It is telling that Murphy is now chiming in upon a scotus ruling that he doesn’t agree with when not too long ago, such commentary upon other matters was, “above his pay grade”.

  • Avraham says:

That comment that the USA can’t get worse, well said.
If the good guys have guns, maybe crime will slow down.

Israel is a beautiful example, many people have guns and it is definitely helping.
